When you ask a Floridian what they love about their state, there’s a good chance he or she will mention something about the water. Indeed, in the minds of many people everywhere it’s often considered one of our biggest draws – no surprise since we have the largest coastline in the continental United States. Plus, those seeking a “sea change” can travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico in just a few hours or head south to venture into the Florida Straits. And let’s not forget the numerous lakes and rivers that lie and run inland.
If you’re a resident or frequent visitor, you’ve probably taken part in some sort of aquatic activity. Perhaps you’ve set sail, ridden a wave or two, skimmed the surface on skis or just dove into the surf when the weather warmed up. All good fun, no doubt. Yet to truly become one with the water, nothing beats scuba diving.
While most people are somewhat familiar with diving, you may not be aware of all the fascinating and enjoyable facets and opportunities that make up the pastime. Sure, you can submerge yourself and look at fish (and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that), but there’s so much more to it:
- Imagine gliding swiftly past the bottom with fish-like speed and moves as you and your companions “drift dive” by catching currents and traveling like an underwater denizen for considerable distances…
- Or picture yourself descending to a sandy bottom and exploring the mysterious remains of a Spanish galleon sunk with a full compliment of currency and gemstones during the not-so-golden age of piracy…
- You might find yourself over a stunning tropical reef with other Project AWARE volunteers, making sure that the vibrant, colorful community of plant and animal life is healthy and thriving…
- And when a fellow diver is injured and unconscious, you could be the one to carefully bring them to the surface and get them breathing again – even if you’re miles from shore or a boat…
If you’re ready to take the plunge (literally) and learn how to venture into the last truly wild frontier on earth, let Scuba Lessons Jax prepare you for a lifetime of journeying. Our dedicated instructors will get you started with lessons in the classroom, pool and open water and help to advance your knowledge all the way up to becoming a master diver. So come on – it’s time to jump in!
